This small volume can serve students as both an example of literary analysis and a vehicle by which they may better understand Virginia Woolf and the specific works under scrutiny. Stripped of the often cluttered and confusing language of academia, it simply renders a single interpretation of each work, so students can not only better understand this literary giant but, even more importantly, appreciate her.
Sex Death and Empire Textual Analyses of Virginia Woolf The Voyage Out Mrs Dalloway eBook Tracey Mershon
Short and to the point, the two analyses contained within this e-book are worth reading for several reasons. By keeping her focus in each narrow and specific, Ms. Mershon not only provides tight, insightful analysis of her chosen texts, but also provides students of literature an excellent example of how to conduct scholarly analysis. Taken as a whole, the two treatments provide further insight into some of Virginia Woolf's central themes: sex, colonialism, the meaning and constraints of time--both real and symbolic. For students conducting literary analysis, it is hard to know sometimes where to begin the daunting task of breaking down complex works into manageable components. This e-book is put together in a concise, coherent way; and it certainly would be valuable in framing these works for students overwhelmed by the prospect of analyzing Woolf's work, as well as anyone who wishes to gain a greater understanding of Woolf's work as a whole.Product details

Sex Death and Empire Textual Analyses of Virginia Woolf The Voyage Out Mrs Dalloway eBook Tracey Mershon Reviews
This is not a book but a brief graduate student essay. It is grossly misleading to label it a substantive critical work.
This wasn't exactly what I thought it was, BUT it triggered an excellent idea for my final Brit Lit paper this semester, and gave me a couple ideas on how/where to follow up, so in my book completely worth it!
